Morning: Dehradun to Ghangaria by Helicopter:
Your spiritual and scenic heli-tour starts early in the morning. Report to Sahastradhara Helidrome, Dehradun, by 06:00 AM for check-in, security procedures, passenger briefing, and boarding formalities. At approximately 06:30 AM, the helicopter departs Sahastradhara and flies over the majestic Garhwal Himalayan foothills toward Ghangaria — the base point for the Hemkund Sahib trek. You’ll land at Ghangaria Helipad around 07:30 AM.
After landing, you are welcomed by the ground crew who assist you and brief you about the trekking route ahead.
Mid-Morning to Early Afternoon: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib Trek & Darshan:
From Ghangaria, the journey toward Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib begins on foot. It is a 6 km trek (one-way) through beautiful Himalayan terrain. The altitude at Hemkund Sahib is approximately 15,200 ft, so it’s strongly advised to hire a pony or palki support for the uphill journey if needed.
The trek typically takes 2–3 hours one way, depending on pace, weather, and acclimatisation. On arrival at Hemkund Sahib, spend time offering prayers, experiencing the sacred atmosphere near the glacial lake, and taking in the spectacular views.
Afternoon: Return to Ghangaria:
After darshan and spending quality time at the shrine, begin your return trek back to Ghangaria. Ensure you start the return before 12:30 PM to meet the helicopter’s scheduled departure.
Once back in Ghangaria, you may have a light breakfast/lunch included as part of the tour package.
Evening: Ghangaria to Dehradun by Helicopter:
At approximately 03:00 PM (1500 hrs), board the helicopter at Ghangaria Helipad for your return flight to Sahastradhara Helidrome, Dehradun. The scenic flight takes you back over the Himalayan foothills. You are expected to arrive in Dehradun around 04:00 PM (1600 hrs), where your same-day Hemkund Sahib heli-tour concludes.
